US Models with build dates prior to Apr/May of '99 have the 1 year notation on page three of the service manual...and dealers are instructed to honor the one year, regardless of lights left.

US Models with build dates from that date on have two years as the frequency period. Most cars built after that have newer manual which SHOWS two years; some still came with the older manual included, but computerized records would show the build date, and dealership service departments would act accordingly. This was ALL hashed out several times over late this summer, and is accurate.

Does not apply to ///M Roadster, which (at least thru '00 - don't know after that) remains on the one year cycle.

Also, early 1.9s had no scheduled maintanence agreement (as I understand it) and Canadian Z3s also did not have US Scheduled Maintanence agreement.

Naturally, any individual dealership can opt to do more, but BMW will not reimburse outside of the guidelines listed above.
