If you were planning to record pre and post soundclips for comparison, use a device that has a MANUAL RECORD LEVEL. Don't use your camcorder as most of their audio circuits have AGC (Automatic Gain Control) which will defeat the purpose when it adjusts levels on-the-fly.
Also remember that since the new one will sound considerably louder, leave some "ceiling room" on the record level. If you set the record level only for the old horn to reach the red area, by the time you blare the new one, it'll be overdriven into distortion.
