Not gonna get M Roadster, what shall I buy now? (archive)

$7100/year is too much for insurance on any car. Next year, my record will be pretty much clean so my premiums will go down much. I'm just gonna wait on a M or S, but I think i can pay cheaper insurance on a supercharged z3 1.9, but I like the M Roadster interior soo much more. Also, a 99 or 2000 323ci would be a nice choice, but no supercharging options avaiable..yet. An "older" style 328 looks good and can be supercharged, but the new body style 323 looks better (IMHO). Budget has shrunk to around $25k.

I don't want an A4, but it is soo much easier to make those 1.8s OR 2.8s go faster than a BMW engine. Could I get into a *nice* used 1.9 and supercharge/III suspension for around 25-26k? Would that be a wise choice? What are some good sites about supercharged 1.9s?

I still might wait a year with my current Audi 100s, and buy an M next year when they AND my inusrance will be much less. I kinda want a another though, soon, know what i mean?
