Heres the reason why inquired. When I did a drivers school last week I mounted my camera on my harness bar using a I/O port camera mount.

I knew that once on the track, the camera mike would be in the wind and I would lose all sound other than wind.

I was experimenting with a remote mike - small clip on one from radio shack. Bought due to size - plugged into the cameras remote mike terminal. Ran the wire from the camera through the trunk and taped the mike to the bumper just above the exhaust - I have a supersprint.

Boy was the quality attrocious. Real peaky and muddy.

I *think* its the microphone.

Any thoughts as to what mike should be used with a camcorder?

I want to record ambient driving sound without getting wind noise. I wonder what kind of mikes are used in the race cars when they show on board footage?

Mario
