Seems like blowing a tire (or other mechanical failure) is just about the only thing that would have caused him to lose control if he was just accelerating in a straight line.

I own a M-Coupe, same engine, and just don't see how he could have done that without some sort of mechanical failure or something. While our cars have a great deal of power, at speeds of 70+ the torque and HP aren't great enough to really unsettle the rear in a straight away...unless there was a large bump/dip in the road that threw the car out of whack.

Ideas?
