but the main one was that I really feel that the Z3 looks so much better with the hoops showing..I'd go with stainless if I had money to burn, but the OEM hoops look fine, but the mesh one, even with its more finished look, robs the car of the roll hoop "look". It functions fine for me, but I too, was getting a bit tired of that black line. I tried an older JD's, and I know he has had a lot of improvements and revisions, but, it still looked too "aftermarket" to me, and the acrylic "squeaks", and the storage unit was awkward to open to open (lotsa straps, size, etc). I also felt the acrylic LOOKED too thin and wobbly. I hope the polycarbonate is better. A friend of mine just got a standard TT roadster, and I have to say that I liked a lot of things on it, especially the fit, finish, and look of the interior. It looks much more expensive, "richer" than the Z3, and I love the stainless trim out. The body is VERY tight, and the seats were comfy, though I could do without the baseball stitching. One of the classiest things was the windscreen. It retracts. Very cool, very nice. Allows you to choose your ventilation and look. But the hoops are ALWAYS prominent, regardless of the windscreen position. I liked the look a lot. (of course the engine felt lacking, compared to the 2.5, actually even FELT less torquey that the 1.9's I drove, maybe it was my imagination). I'm hoping that this smaller one will be easier to remove to access the storage bin, (smaller with less straps), but I know it will still be more of a PITA than the mesh, which is no effort to use with the bin. I keep thinking that there MUST be a better, minimalist design that is elegant, and looks OEM...
