For someone who "doesn't need the extra power", you're going to a lot trouble to supercharge you 1.9 to do just that.

I have a '98 2.8 and this car can hardly be qualified as having "an awful lot of power". Sure it has decent pickup but this car is not breaking loose on me every time I give it the gas.

While not knowing all of the specifics of the crash, I'd guess that the problem was not related to the engine power and more to driving technique.

However, I do agree about the part about the Americans desire for power and truthfully, this applies to us Canadians as well.
