That the seller is new to EBay and inexperienced, and/or will not sell the car ANYWAY unless he gets the price he wants. There is absolutely NO penalty of consequence connected with refusing to sell. EBay makes it clear that NO one ever has to buy from or sell to anyone that he or she does not want to. Ebay also notes that a negative feedback probably would follow.

Some folks get negged for late e-mail, so getting a neg for not selling a car $15,000 too cheaply seems negligible.

And, I am sure that this seller, in his disclaimer near the bottom, feels as though he can legitimately renege as needed, based on that language.

Trade publications have noted that the success rate on selling cars -- actually COMPLETING the transaction -- is lower than in any other category. More buyers and sellers back out than in other categories studied. Unless the market conditions drive the price up on this one, it probably will be one more example.

On the other hand...what is a '96 318 worth?
