Fair enough.
Further, my understanding of the issue (which may be incorrect) is that Dave was/is chapped about the paint chips on the hood and wanted them repaired under warranty. I don't agree that this is or should be covered under the warranty. I applaud his efforts to get them covered, and if he had succeeded, you can bet I would have taken advantage of the same opportunity, but I really don't think it's warranty work. The hood isn't defective. The paint isn't defective.
Ja, agreed, and I bet even Dave agrees now... but back then there was some hope of getting the paint issue addressed. Someone I know got a repaint, but it was a goodwill gesture after a lot of other stuff.
So I kind of stuck with BMW of Seattle based on THAT understanding of the issue. I'm not saying it's an accurate understanding, mind you. Correct me at will.
I dunno- honest. It just seems to me that banning was pretty extreme, and now so much time has passed, Dave has moved on, and the dealership lost an opportunity to get a customer back and a good relationship.
They lost Carlin too.
I've met Dave and my impression is not one of a guy who would cut loose and rant and rave at the dealership. He seems pretty laid back and calm. But I've also met people at the dealership who are very cooperative and willing to please (the parts dept. rocks).
Another good point. One area of a dealership does not necessarily affect another part. Where I bought my car, the sales folks were quite good I think- as opposed to the comedy service department.
Sometimes ya gotta take your car for service somewhere other than where you bought it. Same for parts.
Plus I live in downtown Seattle and the shop is literally 20 blocks (give or take) from my swinging bachelor pad.
Oh baby, behave!
The LASSSST place I would go is BMW of Bellevue. It's owned by some Florida conglomerate and they were extremely snotty when I was looking to get a car. I have heard nothing but good things about BMW Northwest in Fife, which is about 800 bazillion miles South. But I would drop my car off there and freaking walk back before I went to Bellevue.
rofl... you Seattle folks... all nice and calm until someone cuts in front of you in the latte line...
ya almost had me there... but looky what Mapquest says... 30 miles between BMW of Seattle and NW BMW... 30 miles.... I drive 110 for service- EACH WAY. Sometimes I take the bus. It's 3 hours.
But then, I don't take detours chasing Tauruses.... well not usually anyway... ;P
And of course there are those 20 blocks... hard to drive all that way balancing your Starbucks cup...
You can have a keychain when you come visit us in Seattle. I'll even get it engraved with a little space needle for you.

augh!!!! I swear I am trying to work this Homecoming Hajj out... my housesitter just balked at me being away more than a week... now I really want that frikin key chain.
Oh but lemme get this straight.... you can't drive 30 miles for good service... but I gotta drive 2855.8 miles (plus 20 blocks) to get my frikin key chain?
I might just do it! ;D
I want that frikin key chain.
