Saturday, FredR invited a group of us over to his house for an informal gathering. As expected it turned out to be a fun social event. Richard brought over his Z3 and he and Fred replaced the stock shocks with some new Konis on the front and rear. Doug (Loki) and Eileen (Baby Z) came over with their new baby pups, Agatha Frisky and Neara Wolf. (I sure hope you bring’em on the next ride!). Don (RETRO) and Linda came by to join in the fun and Ben showed up a little later.

FredR had promised me that he could get the swirl marks out of my black Z. The intensity of the swirl marks on my car was shameful. Now, I want to go one record and state that these marks were not caused by me. It’s a 1997 and I have only owned her for less than a year. The marks were there before my purchase.

I want to thank Fred for his hospitality. He set me up with his Porter-Cable Random Orbital Buffer, all of the polish, all of the pads, all of the rags and all of the soft drinks I could handle. Fred showed me the proper procedure to apply the polish and remove the swirls. After the full application, you had to look hard to see the swirls as viewed in the shade. Viewed in the sun, the swirl marks were brought to a very respectable condition. As BAD as the marks were on my car I think that one more three-step application will bring the finish as close to new as it can possibly be.

All the technical details on Richards shock change out and my swirl removal will be detailed in a future post.

Good Work Done, Good Company Enjoyed, Good Day Had.

John
