I have a '96 1.9. I recently replaced my brake pads and rotors. My Bentley manual did not mention replacement of the brake pad wear sensors, which are located on the left front and right rear pads. But, I recommend it highly. Even if they didn't wear all the way through, causing the dash indicator light to come on, the clip is not durable and the sensor gets dry and cracked. They can be changed out in about 10 minutes and cost under $15. each. Note the front and rear are different part #s. For my model, front is #34 35 1 181 338 and rear is #34 35 1 182 533.
