Pet peeve, this. Ask a test driver, they say run hard, right from the start. Ask an owner, they say...hey, it's my dollar.

Ok. Givens.

But there are certain things you can do, that gain you the best of both worlds, no? Rev ladder the break-in. Ride 'er up and down, in and out of the gears, and climb and recoil on the tach. Each gear, up to your high bar and down. Up to 5500 then back-off, let the pressure bring her inside. Repeat. Endlessly.

Boring as all get-out. But already my 1800 mile- in Euro has a harder time starting. (O-o-o-oh, nice!) No problem. She just likes higher revs, you know. Getting to them is what YOU have to do.

That's how I like her. Fast and furious. (And without nitrous bottles strapped to her backside.) But don't live by my words, especially if you're not checking the oil, topping her off and watching her all through this initial dancing. She needs you, then most of all.

Cautions?

Well, one of these engines will set you back about 10G's. Ready for that in your belief? I am. (But gimme some of that Redline oil, willya? Or somma dat new fangled 10/60.)
