I don't think the engine blew, just a rad hose... (archive)

was blown off. When you over pressure a cooling system at high rpm's you can blow the rad hoses off the outlets. Happened to me in a FIAT 124 I raced in SCCA showroom stock back in 74. Down shifted into third and blew the top hose off the thermostat housing. I spun out and the cornerworkers almost dumped a dry chem fire extinguisher under my hood. Thye thought I blew the engine.
