There's only one way to break in an engine IMNHO, and the same rule applies to cars, trucks, motorcycles, whatever.

During the first 500/1000/1500 miles (whatever your manufacturer recommends), drive it as you're told.

After that, continue the break-in period like you plan on driving the car.

End of discussion. :)

I had this conversation the other day with someone i won't name.We were talking about engine brk in procedures here are the 2 thoughts
1.Factory specs or
2.Break in the engine the way you plan to drive it.
I won't say how I feel about this just yet.

So let's hear it
