Any tips on what to look for or what to watch out for?
Check out the entire CPO-ed inventory within a 500 mile radius of your home from the bmwusa.com site. Print up the cars that you find interesting, and bring the printouts to the dealer when you check out the cars. I found that the dealer's window sticker was usually a few THOUSAND dollars more than my printout. One dealer balked at working with the posted Internet price to make a deal, but the others had no such problems. Additionally, one dealer swapped the wheels around between cars - my prinout got me the wheels I wanted back on "my car" at negotiating time.
Example: the dealer in Buena park, CA: sticker: $34,5000, Internet listing: $28,900. 1999 2.8 automatic.
I found the entire CPO experience worthwhile....
