What size is gas tank in '01s? (archive)

The magazine reviews are all saying 16.6 gals, the same as the 3-series based M3. Is this correct? Did BMW find a way to put a bigger tank in the tiny confines of the Z3? I know that the '01 roadster/coupe border on the gas guzzler tax (17mpg vs. 16mpg). Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
