anywhere that fumes could escape, it should trigger an anti-pollution sensor, and turn on your 'check engine' light

If there is a leak in the fuel system, and for some reason no sensor is 'seeing' it, it is still dangerous, and should be diagnosed.

Most puzzling, though, that filling the tank would stop a leak? Hope you find the problem
