in the past, it seems that my voltage guage on my '00 M roadster was just shy of 14 volts, which I believe is normal. Today at the LA BMW CCA autocross, I noticed that the voltage guage had dropped to just slightly over 12. But then on the way home on the highway, it was back up to almost 14. Does the alternator shut down during hard driving or something or does this indicate a potential alternator problem. Any advice would be appreciated.
