First, I own a 1998 M Roadster. I love it. Supersprint Exhaust, H&R Bilstien, Conforti Airbox, EBC Redstuff, EuroFloating Rotors and and Racing Dynamics Strut Tower brace.
I am the Autocross Chairman for the local BMWCCA Chapter and put them on every other month and love to drive my M Roadster like crazy with my Kuhmo Victor Racers.

Today a buddy let me take out his M Roadster that is ready to go 8,000rpms. It was a blast. The horsepower is fantastic. The suspension needs work, the exhaust is still too quite. The throttle is very strange. It is an electronic gizmo and you press the pedal and something is sent to the motor to go forward about a half a second later.
I guess this will be sorted out by tuners later on.

My buddy used to have a 1998 M roadster and traded up for the 2001 M Roadster. He said it took some time to get used to the throttle but now it is second nature.

Overall, the car is alot of fun, it seems just like the old one, with a little more power. It does not seem to strain as hard to get to that power either.

Is it worth $15,000 to me. NO, not to me. I now do not have that feeling. It is time for me to move on and dream of that $15,000 to be used on a dedicated track car!

The best of both worlds. OK, maybe just two good worlds.

Or maybe wait 2 years for the new Z3 and buy the "old" body style when it is on sale, and turn into one of those people that is still in love with the 2002ti they bought 20 years ago.

Hey at least we can dream and annoy our spouses with thought about cars for many years to come.

Sorry for the babble, it is late.
