Don't quote me, but I think both you and the dealer are right. The new Z3 actually comes out in late 2002, but as a model year 2003.



I'm sure you've all seen this pic of the 2002 Z3. My dealer told me very little changes for 2002 and then big changes for 2003. Hmmm somewhat uninformed.
