Intuitively I would say not, but can't back that up with any evidence that I know of. However, in the Conforti advertising it makes reference to the switching back to prevent potential problems with BMW service techs...so the implication is that they would not know, once it was gone.

However, if all they do is take fault code readings, I am not sure what could come up in those code numbers that would be a tipoff. If a fault code comes up for O2 sensor failure...and that actually IS the problem, what might there be to indicate that at one time the engine management software had been reprogrammed, then returned to OEM state?

Actually, there really should be no reason to switch back and forth; it is just to prevent needless possible discussion of the software vis-a-vis the fault cause.
