First thing is that somehow the SAp(secondary air pump) screws fell off. Now I know ur car does not have one but question is that the check engine light came on. I reset teh light and the pump and no codes showed up. would the pump being not seated right cuase this or could it?
Second issue, I also got a fuel timing error to go along with my Pre-cat O2 sensor. Now these codes dont ALWAYS come up its just that since i got this reset tool, I check every few days. Could these problems be related to the bad spark plugs? cuz as u know Z3 1.9 have a rough idle anyway, and mine is SCed and the plugs havetn been changed. The main reason I am procranstinating is b/c I dont want to spend a samll fortune (20.00) a plug and have a totally different problem. I am at a loss for answers here I cant think of a thing except for that. The only error that came u to start with was teh PRE-cat o2. About 6 weeks ago the check engine light went on. I disconnected the battery and it went off. It was fine for about 5 weeks then it came on every few days, disconnect BAT, off for a few. Then i noticed it coming on when I was idling, the car would stay at about 600, unless of course i had just floored it then it would bounce then settle at about 800 then drop to 600 as i sat there for a bit, the light would come on when the idle for no reson would fall below 600, i traced it to the A/C, when i had the A/C on the compressor would kick in anf the idle will drop a bit, (normal I think), but at times it would kick CHECK light on. Well as I said I replaced the o2, the other day same deal, except no A/C. Then the next morning I started the car and hte SAP pump started humming along I check it out and wheni wiggled it back to place it stopped. so my problems continue any insight would be greatly appreciated. Send me an email if that is easier
