I use a thin artist's spatula to spread the wax on the pad. I do NOT use the Porter-Cable to remove the wax. Old cotton towels work best here. BTW, I have never run the polisher on a higher speed than "1." Also, I buy additional pads from the manufacturer, Lake Country Mfg. Their part number is on the back of the pad.
