...with a little hole in the center, it's the glass break microphone for the alarm system. DON'T stick a sharp object in there, you'll damage the mic. The light is the LED for the alarm, it should start flashing when you hit the arm button on your key fob.

My 98 MZ3 roadster has a red light next to the heated passenger seat switch. It looks like it has a reset button just above the light that you would have to use a sharp pen to reset it.

I have never seen the light iluminate, and I can not find reference of it in my owner's manual. What is it for?
