Griot's Porter Cable 7424 and the standard 7424 offered at a substantial discount online??

They claim to have a far superior back plate that reduces heat etc.

1) Is their claim creditable?
2) Do their pads work on the back plate supplied stock from Porter cable?

If not, where do you get pads for polishing and waxing?

I knew that I shouldn't squeegy my car for the Panoramic photo, but could not resist. Now I have some light scratches I want GONE.

this thing...I ordered a PC online and I guess I need a little coaching...ie what pads to use etc...thanks...
