The concept of driving away as soon as the engine is started is not new. It's been around since the oil embargo of the seventies.

Warming up your car before you drive away wastes fuel and adds pollution. Wait a few seconds for the oil pump to do it's thing adn go. Just take it easy on the gas until it warms up.

Oh, one other thing.... If the outside temp is near the lower end of the viscosity rating of your oil, in fact if it's below around 40F or so, a few extra seconds before putting it in gear wont hurt. Keep in mind though, it wont help much either.
