Had these when we lived in Minnesota, on 15" alloy wheels (hey, in Minnesota, you don't want to put them on steel wheels, since steel looks crummy, and you're going to be driving on snow tires for a lot of months)!

Loved the Alpins. Never lost grip, and the car was still very driveable from an enthusiast perspective. I believe now that they even make H-rated Sport Alpins.

Didn't like the Blizzaks -- they wear down fast on dry roads (which is still 70-80% plus of the driving in winter, right? clear highways, etc), and are way too noisy. The Alpins are very quiet, and perform admirably on dry roads.
