The newest DIY Project for Amelia... (archive)

...We've had a run on flag sells for the past 2 days. Yesterday we sold out, again, before I got to work. By the time I clocked out last night(11:00PM) the craft dept. had run outta R,W,and B ribbon as well. After a few minutes of foraging, I happened upon the felt sheets, and got my idea. I purchased a sheet of each color, and some Pellon interfacing. I made a RWB carnation for Terry's lapel, I'll make one for my braces in a few, then started on the antenna banner. I cut 3 equal length strips, and fused them in the center with the fusing web. Next, I took it to my new sewing machine and stitched across the spine with white thread, for added strength. Finally, I slid a length of aquarium tubing inside the spine, so the antenna mast will lock on to it, and it won't blow off. The total cost of materials was about $3.00, and it took about 5 minutes to construct. KTP!!
