Allow me to be brutally honest... (archive)

...This is Alabama, we go about our lives at a slower pace. The large majority of our people are simple folk, many were born and raised in the country. Most of them know nothing of the flags of the Netherlands, or Luxembourg, or France. When they see the banner, they will see the COLORS, not the configuration of the stripes. If someone, other than you, points out to me today that I have another country's flag on my car, I will promptly remove it, and toss it in the trash. I guess it's fortunate that I was smart enough to at least get the colors right. God forbid that I do red, white, and green, or yellow, or purple. Feel free to e-mail me an American flag, for my antenna mast, if you have one lying around. This was not something that I had planned out. It was an impromptu DIY that I have constructed from my LACK of proper materials. The fact that you saw my project as another country's flag proves that you were thinking with your head, where as I was thinking with my heart. IMHO, Your point, though valid at any other time, in this instance, is obscurely esoteric, and meaningless. Given the choice of displaying the right colors, in the wrong fashion, or doing nothing at all, I would rather be seen as a sympathetic idiot, than a calloused fool:^(

People may wonder why you have the flag of Luxembourg or The Netherlands on your car. They may even think it's the French flag, although the stripes go up and down on the French flag.
