Hey, I have the OEM CD changer, too... I didn't even know it had a random feature!

Not to disregard your question... It's just that I don't have any information to give you on it.

However, I sure would like to know how to activate the random feature! Explanation, please?

Speaking of stereo systems... I have another question... If I hit the "FM" button, obviously it goes to tuner and I can select any station I want on the FM dial. If I hit the "FM" button multiple times, however, it goes through an "FM1," then an "FMII," etc... If I keep hitting it, it goes to an "FMA" mode... But I can't seem to figure out what "FMA" means... It simply appears to be like an "FMIII," but if it was, I know that BMW would simply label it as "FMIII." Does "FMA" have any interesting features that would make it labeled differently?

Lastly... I've noticed that the display on my head unit is sometimes bright, and sometimes not. It's surprisingly easy to read in direct sunlight, and at night it seems to be basically the same luminescence as the rest of the guages... But at dusk or on a heavily overcast day it seems impossible to read. What's the deal? I've also noticed that the face seems at times to be bright or dark on it's own, independent of the headlights or of my dash dimmer switch. What's going on? Does it have anything to do with the little white dot to the right of the cassette door? Is that some kind of photoelectric eye that chooses it's own dim/bright setting? If so, it doesn't seem to be doing too hot a job... Any ideas?

Okay, one more... Someone metioned on this board that the head unit had several features, including "GST" or "GPC" or something... I can't remember what, exactly, that was... Can someone explain to me what the feature is? Is that the unit's ability to turn itself up when I go faster? If so, is it manually adjustable? I thought it terrific when I first got the car, but I'm not so hot on it any more... It seems to be a bit inaccurate, and sometimes I WANT my stereo to remain louder when I come to a light... Partucularly if the opposite sex is in the locale! :-)
