Time: 10 AM, Saturday, October 13th – rain date: Sunday, October 14th (Try to arrive a few minutes early, say 9:45, with a full tank of gas so we can get off to a prompt start)
Place: Frenchtown, New Jersey, in the River Road parking lot just south of the Frenchtown Inn and the bridge to Uhlerstown.
Highlights: Cruise along the Delaware River and inland along streams, across rolling hills and amid farms. Then head back to the Delaware River for a picnic lunch at a breathtaking mountain lake in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. After lunch take a spin up to Sunrise Mountain and on to Space Farms Museum in Beemerville, an amazing collection with antique cars and motorcycles plus more than 100,000 other unique items and a 500 animal zoo. We'll end up at the Walpack Inn in Walpack Center, New Jersey, for dinner.
Lunch: Pack a picnic basket or arrive early and grab something to go at The Bridge Café adjacent to the River Road parking lot in Frenchtown (908) 996-6040.
Space Farms Museum: We plan on spending a couple of hours here before heading to dinner. Admission: $8.95 per person plus tax.
Dinner: Important!! Call the Walpack Inn at (973) 948-3890 for reservations by Friday, October 12th, and mention BMW Z3.
Lodging: If you need a place to stay Friday or Saturday night, let me know (E-Mail).
Restroom Facilities: Unlike our other cruises cruises, we are starting out from a small village and heading into the wilderness. Toilet facilities in Frenchtown are available at the two gas stations (one each), and the Bridge Café (one). The Watergate Picnic Area (our lunch stop) should have three or more chemical toilets. There is a single plumbed toilet open to the public in Milbrook, ¼ mile north of the picnic area. Sunrise Mountain has two chemical toilets (but very nice ones – my wife even used one). Once we reach Beemerville, we’re home free. Plenty of toilets at Space Farms and the Walpack Inn. You may want to bring a roll of toilet paper and some towels just in case. That’s probably more than you wanted to hear about toilets, but forewarned is forearmed.
We hope anyone within reasonable driving distance and able to commandeer a Z3 will join us. E-Mail Tom Storer at z3ne@home.com to sign up or get questions answered. For more information, check out the Delaware Water Gap web page.
