Some things to point out:

The tickets mentioned are from citcumstances where just about ANY detector will not work. Pacing, VASCAR (measured time between two maked points on the road), blind corners, tops of hills (where the cop is at the bottom), ignoring a detector's warning because "It always registers here", and so on, are all situations where it won't help because a detector is "ineffective".

Even in open spaces, no detector will ever warn you of instant on or "laser" with enough time for you to slow down.

"Of course, it almost goes without saying that speeding is illegal."
