Clays, especially Griot's, are not at all abrasive. Maybe the original "overspray" clays were, but the new ones don't remove any of the paint. In fact, standard paint cleaners have abrasives, and this is why clays are so attractive in comparison. There's no way you can screw up your paint by using them.
