DIY hood ding removal??? (archive)

The previous owners of my 98 2.8L apparently parket the car under an oak tree. There are some very minor dings on the hood (only visible if you're looking at the correct angle) which I'd assume are a product of acorns falling on the hood.

So, anyone have any ideas about how to get the dings out? What kind tool to use? Technique? Any thoughts welcome.
