: Ssome say synthetic, some say dino oil. BMW NA's customer support says dino, dealer says dino. I am told that the cars with synthetic have a sticker somewhere on the front of the engine compartment that indicates synthetic.

When we picked up our new M Coupe last week I asked the same question, and was told there would be a big sticker on the radiator shroud if it had synthetic in it. There wasn't so the engine must have dino. We plan to change to synthetic at the 4.5k service. I read long ago that synthetic doesn't allow for proper break-in due to it being -too- slippery. YMMV, IMHO.
