In Reply to: Why would a 2.8 handle better than an M???? posted by Mpower on September 25, 1999 at 09:48:10:

if so, just enjoy it and never mind the technicalities or what your license plate should say. if not, sell it and get a different one.

what makes you think a 2.8 outhandles an M? in most 'contests' out there, be it street or autocross, it is the driver that is the deciding factor anyway (to a point, of course) - but someone who knows what he is doing will be faster in a stock M than a stock 2.8, anywhere, anytime.

before you start modifying the car, ask yourself why. is the car holding back your performance in some way? or is it just bragging rights? if it's the latter, just spend the money on whatever sounds most impressive to you. can't go wrong ;)

just an opinion.

: I don't get it. I thought the M had the better suspension and brakes. Why would a Z outclass an M? It just doesnt make sense, it's like saying a 328is is better than an M-3. Does the Z coupe have the E36 suspension? I know the M has the E30 suspension, which pissed me off because I was misled by my dealer. #2 Dinan Chip or Jim C?
