Well maybye not reasonable but standard. I've had lawyers ask for $400 for traffic stuff before, and I imagine that NY is more expensive then TX. It sounds like you get a good deal down there, by Texas' reputation I would've thought they'd put you on death row. ;)

: I was up in your wonderful state of NY over the holidays and had the unfortunate dipleasure of getting a ticket. It was 80 in a 65 on some damn highway up there. The town is Coeymans which is just north of Baltimore NY (I believe.) Anyway, I live down here in Texas, but still do not want the ticket recognized by my ins. co. Down here in Dallas, you pay a lawyer $40-$50 and he takes care of it for you. Varies as to what he can do, get it dismissed, deferred, or defensive driving. The point is though for $50 your ins. co. never sees it. My question to all of you up there in NY is does $200 seem like to much to pay a lawyer to 'handle' this for me? I talked to the court clerk and she gave me the name of a laywer that is always up there. He said he could take care of it for me, but his fee is $250. I got him down to $200 but this still seems way excessive. Am I just spoiled down here in TX or is this guy pulling a fast on on me?? Comments, advice please...

: Thanks, Robert M
