Actually, the rear tires aren't large enough! IMO (archive)

You can fit 275/40 tires back there. You can probably fit 285/35 back there. Maybe even 295/30 back there! I haven't tried personally, but when it comes to change tires, I'm going to push it to the limit.

That is a 9" wide wheel and the 245/50 are just way too small for such a wide wheel.
