Clicking noise in engine bay??? (m) (archive)

Maybe this sound has been there all along, but today coming into the garage with the windows down (first day in a while I could do that) I noticed a loud clicking sound coming from the engine bay. At idle, it clicks around 2-3 times a sec.

Standing outside of the car with the motor running, it's very noticable.

The frequency of clicks will raise and lower with the rpm and but is inaudible if the windows are up and moonroof closed. I've noticed no performance drop-off or anything else abnormal--the car otherwise runs like a top.

Does everyone else's Coupe make this sound? If it is abnormal, perhaps it's a loose belt, as it's coming from the front of the block (sounds like from the intake side).

Anyone else experience this? (I have visions of everyone running to the garage to check this out...)
