I hope this is the right forum for the M-Coupe. I've been kicking the idea of a Z-roadster around for a while, though I really (REALLY) like the coupes. I happened across a 98 or 99 coupe in dark metallic green/beige that was a real beauty... started leaning towards the coupe. The dealer (non-BMW) was asking $45k for it (hmmm... sounds high).
I visited the area BMW dealer to see what they had. Well, they had at least 16 Z3s (2.3s and 2.8s), but only two coupes. One was the dark-metallic green/beige, the other was silver with black/blue interior. The green one would be "new" and about $44k, the silver is a factory car and the dealer thinks he can give it up for under $40k. The green had the "sunroof", the silver did not.
Is the sunroof a really nice feature or not. The dealer said it just pops up in the rear (non-sliding), but I read elsewhere that it could be removed entirely.
I asked about Z-Coupes (not M-Coupes), and the dealer said they really arent very common, and by the time you dress up the Z, you're not too far from the M (in cost).
I drove the M and Loooooooved it. I currently drive a 95 525iT (e34, wagon, auto), so you can probably imagine the power difference that I experienced (enjoyed)... and it was fun to drive a manual again.
Anyone here have some words regarding the Z versus the M? I'd love to hear your opinions. I think I'm sold on the coupe...
...though they did have a '00 323i Convertible (e46) that was pretty slick too. If you get the chance, you gotta see these. And all this started because I was interested in finding an older 2.8 roadster... Dave
