One possible explanation. My friend had the same problem the first time he sat in a coupe. You have to adjust the tilt and the down before you move the seat nearly or fully back. If the tilt is full forward and the seat full up and you move the seat full back you get very little tilt and down. The limits kill the motion because there is no where for the seat to go.
