: Can anyone give me an idea of the major changes between the 99 model year and the 00.
Small stuff. The 2000 Z3 Coupe has DSC (BMW's next generation traction control) where the 1999 Z3 Coupe has ASC. Available colors changed as well (for example, the 1999 had an almost purple color where the 2000 has a more normal dark blue color). The 2000 Z3 Coupes also have the nifty M steering wheel. Also, the warranty changed a little bit, from "all scheduled maintenance for three years" to "full maintenance for three years." I'm not clear what precisely this means (I know they won't buy you new tires when you wear out your old ones), but it's probably worth something.
When I was looking, I ultimately bought a 2000 Z3 Coupe because all the 1999's I could find had a minimum of 4000 miles on them. One had 11800 miles! You can bet those cars weren't driven well during the engine breakin period.
