I'm not sure how the Chicago Tribune columnist figured the total US reserves but around last year this time I remember that the US reserve is for 30days only. Remember that the reserves are for all consumption not just for gas. For example heating oil.

: Not buying gas for a day isn't going to effect anything. There is a huge lag between the time the oil is pumped from the ground, to the time it is actually refined to gasoling and put into your car.

: A better boycott would be to use the U.S. oil reserve. The U.S. has something like 9 million gallons of oil stored underground throughout the southern United states. A columnist from the Chicago Tribune figured out that if the U.S. used these reserves for 90 days, we would still have 97% of our oil reserves left.

: The fact is, those guys at the OPEC need to pay for their $100,000 Porsches, 600 HP RennTech Benzes, and of course, they have to pay off that Z8 they just bought.
