Although BMW runs in their engines more at the factory than most other car makers, the adjacent moving parts do need to be "final fit" before agressive driving is done if long engine life is your objective.
For the first couple hundred miles, I suggest keeping engine rpm below 4000 and avoid jackrabbit starts and quick acceleration. It'll take a couple hundred miles before the tires are worn enough to completely "fit" the road, too.
As there's no magnetic drain plug to grap the tiny shards of steel worn off the mating surfaces of new parts that the oil filter doesn't trap, I suggest you have the engine oil replaced at 200 miles, then again at 2000 miles. This keeps them from micro-scoring their mating surfaces.
It's ok to be a wimp in the minds of others while learning all the characteristics of the car. You'll do much better when you know every lurch and lean it does snaking down your favorite road at speeds even Star Treck fans would envy.
When first getting a high-performance car, one needs to have the same stuff that busy doctors do: patience.
