Valerie - I have a couple of recommendations for you. First, make sure that you get started early - unless you are actually in HMB between 11 and 12, you will hit bad traffic on all the most obscure roads.
Alice's restaurant is usually very full of bikers on week-ends; not a bad crowd, and some awesome machinery, but there are lots of them; I would suggest the Merry Prankster in La Honda. If you would prefer to wait until you get to HMB, there are lots to choose from, but the HMB Coffee Company probably has the widest selection and good outside seating.
Here are some interesting routes to follow to HMB.
From SF:
280S
1S
San Bruno exit (Sharp Park Road)
TR Skyline (35)...this leads onto 280S again
92 W
35 S
84 W (Alice's restaurant is at this intersection)
TL at Pescardero Road (just past La Honda)
TR at Stage Road (middle of Pescadero)
Follow this to Highway 1 and TR
About 8 miles to HMB
From SJ:
280 N
84 W
Same as above
From East Bay:
San Mateo Bridge
92 W
Same as above
Hope this helps.
By the way, an Audi group (TT's and S4's were on part of this route yesterday (3/12).
