for the sport 190 lotus claims 4.4s to 62mph and 10.9 to 100. any competent mechanic can work on them (these are very basic cars - no gizmos at all, not even carpeting to cut for access to fuel pump ;). getting parts is also not that bad, just long - any dealer in the uk can ship them to you with a credit card order by phone. takes anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, depending on how much you want to pay for freight. the SP190 is a bit more difficult because not all parts are in stock...
sun is targeting similar acceleration for their car, and parts for the honda motor should be a lot easier to get. their car doesn't have the race suspension, seats, rollcage, fire suppression system or six-point belts of the SP190... but it should be a neat road car!
: Even with the VTEC engine, the Elise should be a screamer! 0-60 is probably less than 5 seconds. Getting maintence done on the car might be a pain in the arse though. I wonder if the local Lotus dealership would be knowlegable enough of Elises to service them...
