Just installed an on-off valve in the line and the problem is gone!

Used a plastic on-off flow valve from 1/4" irrigation line. Found at the hardware store. Cut the hose to the rear wiper at just beside the resevoir under the hood. Normally will leave in the closed position, but can be opened for those trips when conditions make the wiper userful. Very clean installation, easy to change from open to closed.... no more spittle on the rear deck after driving the car hard!
