Interesting. But I can not prove, or disprove this till I get some Dyno time. Untill then, I can only give seat of the pants oppinions.

When at the track in Pahrump, Nevada - with no discs I reached over 100mph in the long back straight. With 18 discs (all that I have right now), I got only to about 95-97mph.

On the street, no discs seem to have less of a punch at the lowend, and 14 discs seem to have good lowend torque and punch.

But again, untill I get some time on a Dyno to test the disc configurations, I can not give any solid proof. But I can say this - no matter how many discs, it sounds great to me :)
