another tire to look at seems to be the kumho ECSTA supra 712 - it's getting top ratings in tire rack survey and it's CHEAP (235/40-17 is $105 and 255/40-17 is $110!!!). this is NOT the V700 race tire, but a street tire that seems comparable to the pilots and kd's. i have not tried it myself, but it looks like a winner based on the tirerack info.
