Could this be related to the rear wiper spitting problem? On mine, when you are really on the gas hard, the thing squirted washer fluid out the rear wiper and down the back of the car(untill I put a valve in the line to shut it off!)
If, at say 35-40 MPH, the aerodynamics of the car pulls the water down the rear of the car, could it get on the exhaust system? That would cause a great deal of steam (a little water goes a long way), since the tail pipes aren't insulated, and would account for fogging the rear window as well.
Just postulating, assuming that BMW is BMW, and seldom has major engine problems, ever. Noises, squeeks, rattles, buzzes..sure... engine problems? huh...
: When I'm driving at say 35 or 40 mph, then I decide to 'floor it', I notice that there is quite a bit of smoke coming out from the tailpipes, that my rear window gets all fogged up. Is this normal because of the sudden change in engine speed, or is there something wrong with the car?
: Please help!!
